11th July U12 Boys (Red Team) – Killygarry 9-14, Dernacrieve Gaels 4-06
Our red team opened their summer league competition with a good victory at home this week. The game was played in fantastic conditions. Killygarry got off to a great start with 3 points from Kevin Lovett, Neil Reilly & Dara Carty but Dernacrieve replied by hitting the net with their first shot. Killygarry, however, kept at it and with further points from Darragh Lovett (2) and Kevin Lovett (1) they started to pull away. Darragh Lovett scored a goal for Killygarry but again Dernacrieve came up the field and scored another goal. Darragh Lovett responded with 3 more points but the opposition were not giving up yet. Half time came with Killygarry in front by 3 points – Killygarry 1-06, Dernacreive 2-6.
After a few words at half time and a few changes in defence, Killygarry put the foot down and were never going to be overtaken. Goals from Neil Reilly, Kevin Lovett, Dara Carty, Darragh Lovett & Nili Tuipulotu put the game beyond the opposition. It was a good all round performance but some work to be done if we are to progress further in the league. A few simple mistakes led to 4 goals being conceded.
Team on the night – Senan Teevan, Gerry Murphy, Dylan Glynn, Gabriel Cosgrove, Jamie McDonald, Kevin Lovett (2-4), Shane McCabe, Neil Reilly (3-1), Cillian Moran, Dara Carthy (1-1), Darragh Lovett (2-7), Dean McNamara, Ciaran Carthy, Nili Tuipulotu (1-1)
7th July U12 Boys (Black Team) – Bailieborough 3-07, Killygarry 6-06
The second game of the league for the black team was played away to Baileborough. Both teams had good numbers togged out so it was agreed to play 11 a side as opposed to the 9 a side rule. Killygarry again attacked straight away and started to clock up early scores. Baileborough to their credit never gave up and brought the game to within a point but Killygarry kept to the task and ran out winners by 8 points.
