Cavan Gaels 4-15 V Killygarry 2-11
Tuesday night 16 April saw our U13 Division One team commence action in a local derby v Cavan Gaels. This is a young Killygarry team and they got a quick lesson in the speed of play at this level when hit by a Gaels blitz in the opening 10 minutes. To their credit, they fought hard throughout the period and gradually got a foothold in the match. The decisive moment in the match arrived just on half time however when a great save denied Killygarry a goal and from the resultant clearance, a fortuitous Gaels goal followed. Half time score Gaels 2.11 Killygarry 0.07
The second half saw a major improvement from the Killygarry men. Daragh Noonan was thriving at mid field and with the full forward line of Paddy Brides, Ryan Lynch and Oisin McCabe finding space inside, the deficit was reduced to 04 points through two fine goals. Momentum was with us but again when pushing up and looking for scores we were left open at the back and a couple of killer scores went against us in the last third which ended the game. Overall a battling performance from a group of lads who showed great heart for the battle and who will look to learn and improve throughout this league campaign.
