GAA SOCIAL INITIATIVE
GREAT NITE OUT AT “VICTORS DUNG”
A packed audience filled the newly re-furbished Killygarry Community Centre on Sunday night last to see the highly acclaimed drama “Victors Dung”. Twenty four years after he played for Leitrim Senior Footballers at the official opening of the Killygarry Athletic Grounds, the multi-talented Seamus O’Rourke was back in Killygarry performing the lead role as Victor Maguire, in a play also written and directed by him. Tommy Sharkey and Charlie McGuinness, two able accomplices, completed the cast. The production provided first class entertainment from start to finish, reflected in the reaction from the 200+ people present at the end.
An added bonus was the presence of the RTÉ Nationwide TV Crew to record an interview with Seamus O’Rourke on the success of the play to date and the involvement of Moth Productions. The new Community Centre provided the ideal setting and it will certainly reflect our local community in a positive light when the programme is aired. The feature will be broadcast sometime in the Summer.
Special thanks to everyone who attended and to the club’s Social Initiative Team led by Claire Coyle and Paddy Sheanon who organised the event.
The club also wish to thank Will Govan and Moth Productions for facilitating the club in hosting the play under the initiative.
KILLYGARRY ANNUAL VARIETY CONCERT
Killygarry’s Annual Variety Concert will take place tonight Friday March 23rd at 8p.m. in Killygarry Community Centre. Paddy Sheanon will be M.C. on the night and the concert promises a host of top quality local artists. We look forward to seeing you there!

ST PATRICK’S DAY PINS
The club wishes to thank all those who purchased St. Patrick’s Day Pins. Special thanks to all the local businesses that supported us by displaying pins in their premises. Anyone who has monies from the sale of pins can hand it in to Mary McKenna or Mary Keady. A very big thank you goes out to all those who helped to sell the St Patrick’s Day Pins at various venues and Masses last weekend.
VOLUNTEERING
The Club is always in need of volunteers to help out at training sessions and matches especially at underage level. Volunteering can be a really enjoyable and worthwhile activity. It does not mean that you are committed to being available for every training session or match and you don’t have to be a trained coach to help out. If you think you could help out and you have an hour to spare during the week or perhaps you stay at the venue while your child trains, we would love to have you on board. You can speak directly to the coach at the training session or contact any committee member, or contact any one of the following numbers: Kevin Reilly(087-212011), Paul Bates(086-8363798), Kevin Smith(086-0810277), Mary Mc Kenna(086-8613101), Mary Keady( 086-8310487).

Match Report
Killygarry V Mullahoran Rd. 2 9Aside
Killygarry 5-7, Mullahoran 4-4
Killygarry ladies took on Mullahoran away on Monday 19th March @4.30pm. There was a very strong cross field wind throughout the match. Killygarry took the lead when Brid Boylan scored the first goal but this was quickly followed by a goal from Mullahoran. Killygarry went ahead again with points from Lousie Smith and Mary Grogan. Brid Boylan scored a second goal to give Killygarry a comfortable lead. It was a close game but Killygarry tackled well and their support play was very good. Some passes went astray on both sides due to the strong wind but Killygarry looked to be the slightly fitter team. Mullahoran scored a point and another goal in the first half but goals from Grainee Smith and Nicole Mc Cabe and a point each from Louise Smith and Aisling Bates gave Killygarry a 9 point lead at half-time. In the second half Mullahoran knocked in an early goal to reduce the lead to 6 points. Another two points from Mullahoran left just a 4 point lead but points from Grainne Smith and Louise Smith stretched the lead comfortably again. Mullahoran scored a second goal but Brid Boylan knocked in her third goal of the game and with just another point from each side scored in the second half, Killygarry won by 6 points. That’s their second win from two games in the 9 Aside competition. Well done to all the players and coach on their achievements to date.
The next 9Aside match is away to Lurgan the week ending 31st March/ 1st April.
The Div. 2 League commences this weekend. However, due to All Ireland commitments of a number of Killygarry players, their match with Ballymachugh has been postponed and will be re-fixed for a later date.
Rd. 2 of the League is fixed for weekending 7th -9th April and is Away to Killeshandra.
Training continues on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Notifications of venues and times will be sent via teamer text.
The Club would like to wish Caitriona Smith Good Luck as she competes with TCD in the All Ireland Colleges Finals this weekend.

HIRE OF TRAINING FACILITIES
Note for parents of players: As you will probably be aware the club is finding it difficult at the moment to come up with regular training slots for all the various teams in the club. Apart from the on-going re-development work on the main pitch, our back pitch has been unplayable for the most part so far this year due to the poor weather conditions.
The poor weather has also resulted in many other clubs seeking to use alternative venues such as the 3G and this is further limiting our options. It is important therefore that parents take proper note of text messages that the club circulate as training times/venues may change from week to week or at short notice.
The hire of facilities also places an additional cost burden on the club. At this years AGM it was agreed that a fee of €2 would apply to all training sessions hosted away from our grounds to offset the cost of hiring these facilities. While this is voluntary we would ask parents to co-operate with this temporary measure.
The club acknowledge the inconvenience for everyone at present and thank you for your co-operation until we get these projects completed.
SECURITY AT CLUB GROUNDS
It is important for obvious reasons that the barrier is locked at all times when the ground is unattended. If you notice the barrier open or you cannot lock it please contact Kevin (087 2120111) or Paul (086 8363798). Do not drive off and leave it open!
IRISH INDEPENDENT GIVEAWAY
The club are collecting “Go Play Today” tokens from the Irish Independent and Sunday Independent newspapers. The competition runs from Sunday 26th February until Saturday 7th April. Bonus tokens are available on Sundays and Thursdays (bonus token counts as 2). The competition runs on a first come, first serve basis so the quicker we can collect the tokens, the more chance we have of winning a kit.
