HIRE OF TRAINING FACILITIES

Note for parents of players: As you will probably be aware the club is finding it difficult at the moment to come up with regular training slots for all the various teams in the club. Apart from the on-going re-development work on the main pitch, our back pitch has been unplayable for the most part so far this year due to the poor weather conditions.

The poor weather has also resulted in many other clubs seeking to use alternative venues such as the 3G and this is further limiting our options. It is important therefore that parents take proper note of text messages that the club circulate as training times/venues may change from week to week or at short notice.

The hire of facilities also places an additional cost burden on the club. At this years AGM  it was agreed  that a fee of €2 would apply to all training sessions hosted away from our grounds to offset the cost of hiring these facilities. While this is voluntary we would ask parents to co-operate with this temporary measure.

The club acknowledge the inconvenience for everyone at present and thank you for your co-operation until we get these projects completed.

SECURITY AT CLUB GROUNDS

It is important for obvious reasons that the barrier is locked at all times when the ground is unattended.   If you notice the barrier open or you cannot lock it please contact Kevin (087 2120111) or Paul (086 8363798). Do not drive off and leave it open!

IRISH INDEPENDENT GIVEAWAY

The club are collecting “Go Play Today” tokens from the Irish Independent and Sunday Independent newspapers. The competition runs from Sunday 26th February until Saturday 7th April. Bonus tokens are available on Sundays and Thursdays (bonus token counts as 2). The competition runs on a first come, first serve basis so the quicker we can collect the tokens, the more chance we have of winning a kit.

Match Report:

The U-14 girls travelled to Gowna on Saturday to play the second round of their league. Playing with the wind in the first half it took the girls a while to get into this match and it was Gowna who registered the first point of the game.  The two teams exchanged points and after 15 minutes the game was level with 3 points each. However the Killygarry midfield started to dominate and lots of good ball was being sent into the forwards. The girls started to capitalise on their chances and goals from Geraldine Smith and Maeve Connolly ensured the girls went into half time with a 10 point lead.  It was the backs turn to impress in the second half and as Gowna tried to reduce the lead they stood strong with some excellent blocking by Ellen Brady and good clearances by Ashling Creegan. Once again the girls finished strongest scoring 3 goals with great work from Orla Cahill, Jenna Mc Connell and Emer Gannon. The girls will hope to continue this winning streak when they play Killeshandra on Sunday.
