Killygarry GAA ASAP Policy

ASAP Policy Launch Nov 2010

Senior players along with Club ASAP Officer, Fr. Andrew Tully and Tyrone All-Ireland winner Joe McMahon launch the Club’s ASAP Policy in Killygarry Community Centre on 6th November 2010

ASAP stands for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention and is a national GAA initiative aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse among young people. In 2010 Tyrone GAA star Joe McMahon launched our own club ASAP Strategy in Killygarry Community Centre. A copy of the club’s ASAP was circulated to members with last year’s AGM pack. The strategy is also posted on the club website.  As part of our strategy the club is committed to providing information for young people on the topic.

The national ASAP Co–ordinator within the GAA is Colin Regan. Colin is a former Leitrim GAA footballer and journalist. He only recently retired from inter county football because of injury and so he is very familiar with the modern day pressures of a Gaelic footballer and the requirements of balancing lifestyle with playing at the highest level. Colin will host an information evening on Monday 10th September 2012 at 7.30pm sharp in the Killygarry Community Centre. From speaking to Colin you can be assured that this will be a very interesting event. We encourage all young people in the area (12+) to come along.

Although this is a club initiative, the meeting is not just confined to club members/players. It is open to all young people in the parish. Parents are also invited to attend. The meeting will last no longer than an hour so please come along.
